We invite you to join us for “Imagine Possibilities for Early Childhood Teacher Education,” sponsored by CREATE, Communities as Resources in Early Childhood Teacher Education. The theme captures the dynamic work being done at the University of Arizona and in your organizations regarding the initial preparation of early childhood teachers, the professional development of current early childhood teachers, and the development of families’ capacities to educate young children.
We welcome two keynote speakers. Dr. Mariana Souto-Manning, Teachers College, Columbia University, author of the award winning book, Multicultural Teaching in the Early Childhood Classroom: Strategies, Tools & Approaches, and Dr. Deborah Wells Rowe, Peabody College, Vanderbilt University, author of Preschoolers as Authors: Literacy Learning in the Social World, will both be setting the stage for rich discussions around the innovations taking place in early childhood teacher preparation.
Because of the work you are doing in early childhood teacher preparation and continuing professional development of early childhood teachers or families, we are inviting you to present on your program, on your research, on policy initiatives, or on your work with families in early childhood teacher preparation. Presentation formats may include individual presentations or panel presentations. Our focus is a small conference for 150 people so that there is time to talk with each other as well as to hear presentations about the kinds of innovations that people are pursuing with early childhood teachers in undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as in professional development. You are also welcome to attend without making a presentation.
Proposals will be accepted through October 31, 2014. Please download and complete the conference proposal form and the required abstract, and send as an attachment to [email protected].
There is no cost for the conference itself. Travel arrangements will be the responsibility of the presenters. If you are interested, a block of rooms have been reserved at Aloft Tucson University, and are available for booking through Friday, December 26th at 5 p.m. local time.
